ROOTWORK 101

Chen Te

In this workshop, we will learn and discuss the many items, herbs, oils and tools used in this truly American form of Folk Magic. From it’s origin in Africa, to its arrival in this country, we will come to understand  how it has blended with Native American herbology and European forms of magic, resulting what we know today as Rootwork. Utilizing many of the Elements of Nature, this facinating “southern style” magical practice can be used in our daily lives to create change,  protection, healing, prosperity and much, much more.

Chen Te has been a resident of South Florida for most of his life since relocating from the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina  in the early 1950s. He has been following the magical path known as hoodoo ( Rootwork ) for several decades both as a practitioner and a teacher. As well as being co-founder of several covens, circles and clans, he is an ordained minister as well as a High Priest and Clan Lord of the Clan of Ravenhawk. Among other responsibilities, he is part owner and business manager of Summerland, a Pagan spiritual gathering retreat located in Bonita Springs, Florida.
